A Rooster and A Pig: For Good Luck!

Today I tattooed Foghorn Leghorn and Porky Pig from the Loony Tunes cartoons.  I always have fun doing cartoon characters, but it's even better when they come with a story.  I had known for a while that a tattoo of a rooster and a pig are popular traditional tattoos, but I didn't know exactly why.  The girl I tattooed today, who is going into the Navy, explained that it was traditional for sailors to get these tattoos because if a ship was going down it was always pigs and roosters who survived.  So a tattoo of a pig and a rooster is supposed to provide protection from drowning for sailors.

These characters were tattooed one on each foot, so I have provided a wide photo of her feet (so that you can see the size and placement) and a photo with a close up of each tattoo.

Neo-Traditional Ship Wheel

I tattooed this yesterday.  It was a lot of fun.  I really enjoy the neo-traditional style and would really like to do more of it!

Today's Drawing

I guess this is what comes out of my head when I don't have anything else to do.  I finished my actual work early in the day and spent the rest of my work day on this nice fancy armadillo.  So, enjoy!

Realistic Camera

I also did this black and gray realistic camera last night.  I don't typically do realism, but I have to say I was pretty pleased with how this came out.  More importantly, my customer was super happy!

Black and Gray Bird

I did this tattoo last night.  It was my customer's very first tattoo!  She was pretty nervous at first, but she took it well and was super happy at the end.  By the way, birds are one of my most favorite things to tattoo, FYI.

The Transition

I am now beginning the transition from my Facebook to my new blog.  Facebook is nice to get out information and pictures to my friends, but it doesn't get it to everyone.  This blog will be nice because I can say a lot more about my art that I'm exhibiting and I can reach a wider audience.  I will still use Facebook from time to time to check in and post some pictures, but this will be be my main form of image updating.  I'll post on here as often as I am able.  Don't forget to check out the Ink Well Website for my tattoo portfolio and my online store on Etsy for my paintings (links to both of these are located on the side bar of this blog).
